CORONAVIRUS

As the Coronavirus outbreak continues to evolve, Azimuth Risk Solutions (Azimuth) would like to provide helpful information to those who currently have a “Beacon Series” Travel Medical Plan or White Label Plan, a Meridian Series Plan or White Label Plan, and any Contour Plan or to anyone who is considering purchasing any plans offered by Azimuth.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), issued the following Warning:

Warning Level 3- Avoid Nonessential Travel for China and South Korea

All travelers should avoid nonessential travel at this time. This travel warning is the result of a current outbreak of respiratory illness caused by a new coronavirus known as 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

Symptoms of the virus:
  • Cough
  • Fever
  • Shortness of breath

The symptoms appear 2-14 days after exposure. These symptoms range drastically from mild flu-like symptoms to severe illness and death. Like the flu, coronavirus poses a higher risk to senior citizens and people with existing health issues. These individuals may be at increased risk of developing a more severe disease. If you have spent any time in China in the past 3 weeks and you experience these symptoms, consult with your doctor immediately.

How the Travel Warning Affects Your Coverage

If you become ill with the Coronavirus while traveling, it is possible that your medical expenses can be covered. Please be sure to review the full Evidence of Insurance for your travel medical health plan to determine how your coverage works in the event of a disease outbreak in your destination country and how your coverage is impacted if the CDC issues a Level 3 Warning.

Azimuth travel plans have the following exclusions:

All charges, costs, expenses incurred by the Participating member and directly or relating to or arising from or in connection with any of the following acts, omissions, events, conditions, charges, consequences, claims, treatment (which would include diagnoses, consultations, tests, examinations and evaluations related thereto), services/or supplies are expressly excluded from coverage under this insurance if:

Disease Outbreak—in a country or location for which the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Warning Level 3, and
  1. The warning has been in effect within one-hundred and eighty (180) days immediately prior to the Participating Member(s) date of arrival; and
  2. Within ten (10) days following the date the warning is issued the Participating Member(s) has failed to depart the country or location

Please note you are still covered for Eligible medical expenses incurred in a country or location while the Level 3 Warning is in effect, if the Eligible expenses do not result from a disease outbreak.

Azimuth is here to help should you have any additional questions.
